South Florida is catching the composting bug! In part inspired by the City of Deerfield Beach pilot program (which we're supporting!) and their own sustainability goals, the City of Coral Springs has now partnered with local hauler Filthy Organics, LLC to offer a food scraps drop-off program. The foundation would love to help your community, in South Florida or elsewhere think through how you can start a program of your own!

In barely over 2 months the City of Deerfield Beach Compost Pilot Program in partnership with Filthy Organics, LLC has already diverted over 14,500 lbs of food waste from landfills going to composting. Imagine how much food waste a full program could divert!
We're proud to be supporting the hard work being done by this program, assisting with education, project management and technical assistance and can't wait to start getting some of that "black gold" aka compost into the community in the coming months to promote healthy soils!
Fun for the whole family? We couldn't resist sharing a great video one of the City of Deerfield Beach residents took of coming to the kickoff event, and beginning his composting with his little ones. We're proud to support this South Florida municipality taking the leadership on food waste recycling!
Our President Jairo E Gonzalez looks great in a City of Deerfield Beach Food Waste Recycling and Compost Program t-shirt! It's been a pleasure advising the city and Filthy Organics, LLC on the best practices for starting a collection program, educational programs, composting and more. They each have extremely dedicated teams seen here running the orientation for the program. They've already diverted over a ton of food waste in a small pilot and are just getting started!
